Kelly Callahan has been an educator for 20 years: ten as a middle school social studies and English teacher as well as 10 years as an administrator, including seven years as a middle school assistant principal, two as a charter school assistant principal, and now as the SIATech Albuquerque principal. In 2008, Ms. Callahan was named the New Mexico Principal of the Year by the New Mexico Association of Secondary School Principals. She is the only charter school principal in the country to be awarded this honor. Ms. Callahan commented on her work as a principal at SIATech, "This is my dream job. It's the job I was meant to do. I'm changing people's lives here." (The Albuquerque Journal, August 12, 2008) In her “spare” time, Ms. Callahan loves to travel, read and play golf. |
