Mr. Valles has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arizona. He is certified to teach Secondary Math and Science in New Mexico and Texas. Mr. Valles graduated from Gadsden High School in Anthony, New Mexico. During college, he served as an engineering intern at Naval weapons stations in Philadelphia and Corona, California, with IBM in Austin, Texas, and at White Sands Missle Range. In 1988, Mr. Valles transitioned from a career in engineering to working with adolescents in prison alternative education programs. He also worked for Vision Quest Wagon Train, an outward bound training program for troubled youth. He walked and rode horses from the Mexico/Arizona border to Montana, with 65-70 young men aged 14 to 19. After that, Mr. Valles took a job at Catalina Mountain School near Tucson, Arizona as a drug rehab counselor while attending school at the University of Arizona. He earned his teaching credentials and began teaching math at El Paso Independent School District. He taught there for ten years before moving to Albuquerque. Mr. Valles teaches the Creative Technology and Senior Projects classes at SIATech. In these classes, students learn graphic arts, computer animation, desktop publishing, and web design, all while perfecting their writing skills. He enjoys riding his motorcycle, attending bike runs in Ruidoso, Tombstone, Grants, and Ignacio, and renovating his house with his wife. |
