Ms. Toledo attended UNM and received a Bachelor of Science degree (cum laude) in Education and a Master of Arts degree (magna cum laude) in Special Education. She is certified as a K-8 Regular Education teacher and a K-12 Special Education teacher. Ms. Toledo grew up in Albuquerque only blocks from the Albuquerque Job Corps Center. During her own schooling, she witnessed students struggling against low socio-economic conditions, yet thriving within a multi-culltural community. As a fluent speaker of both Spanish and English, Ms. Toledo was inspired to use her insights into education and her bilingual ability in the classroom. She was an Educational Assistant for Albuquerque Public Schools for 16 years, during which time educators mentored and encouraged her to receive further education. She then attended college as an adult, and has been teaching Special Education for ten years. She has worked with students of nearly every exceptionality, including hearing impaired, visually impaired, and students in inclusive settings. As a Special Needs Coordinator, Ms. Toledo counsels and guides students in taking advantage of the resources and opportunities available to them as exceptional learners. She facilitates communication between students and instructors in tailoring an individualized educational plan that works for each student's learning style. Upon completion of goals, she advises students of options for transition out of high school and into the world of work or post-secondary training. She ensures that every student can succeed at SIATech. Ms. Toledo has two daughters, 18 and 25 years old, and a four-year-old granddaughter. She loves to travel and does so every chance she gets. She's been from coast to coast in America, and plans to go to Italy in the future.
