Ms. Roth has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Rutgers College in New Jersey, and a Master of Arts in Writing from William Paterson University in New Jersey. She holds a Level III New Mexico Teaching License, and is pursuing a PhD in Language, Literacy, and Sociocultural Studies at UNM. Ms. Roth began her teaching career in 1994 at an inner-city high school of over 5,000 students in Elizabeth, New Jersey, twelve miles outside of New York City. After five years there, she took a teaching job in a school for gifted and talented students at the New Jersey shore, and taught there for four years. During this time, she and her husband traveled each summer, hiking and camping in nearly all of the 50 states. They decided that they loved the beautiful landscape and mountain hiking trails of the Southwest, and moved to New Mexico in 2003. They spend as much time as they can outside. Ms. Roth also loves music, especially rock and blues, and plays the piano and bass guitar. Ms. Roth started with SIATech Albuquerque when it opened in 2004. As Instructional Leader, Ms. Roth facilitates staff communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and professional development. She also supports teachers, provides extra support to students in various subject areas, writes curriculum, helps students with college plans, coordinates the administration of state testing, and maintains the website. She LOVES her job, and thinks that Job Corps students are the best students ever!
